A while back I was at PNC Park in Pittsburgh as part of a two week road trip to ballparks across the midwest. I bought myself a brand new New Era Yankees hat for the trip (at a hefty price). Upon arriving at PNC, the ticket attendants refused to let me in the park because I was wearing a Yankees hat! Keep in mind, the Pirates were playing the Houston Astros, not the Yankees. That didn’t matter to the folks at PNC. After trying every gate with no success I finally surrendered and bought a Pittsburgh Pirates cap at the ballpark shop (again, at a hefty price).
I got into the park, went to my seat (right behind the dugout!) and placed my Yankees hat under my seat. After the game I walked back to my hotel, In the elevator I saw my reflection in a mirror. It was at that moment that I remembered I was wearing a Pirates hat… and had left my pricey Yankees hat under my seat! Doah!
