Happy New Year and welcome to that rarest of rarities, a new Casey comic. I began working on this story about three months ago or so after months of brewery visits throughout the northeast US with my husband Tim and his brother Billy (my own little Brew Crew). To say I was rusty is an understatement, and progress was slower than usual, especially on the backgrounds. Compounding the issue was my ongoing job search, along with an overall malaise following the results of November, plus injuries impacting my ability to run. But enough about me, how are you? I hope everyone is doing well. The beauty of a new year is that it signals new beginnings, and beginnings can result in wonderful things.
As for the comic... I don't know. A lot of time has passed since the current (lol) story was paused, and I'm unsure whether to forge on and finish it, along with the accompanying subplots, or start fresh with a time jump and/or potential reboot. Let me know what you think.
The BTB Crew hit 137 breweries across 4 states and 65 cities in 2024. Brooklyn, NY led the pack with 18 (!) breweries, followed by Manhattan with 7, Long Island City and Bay Shore, NY with 5 each, and Queens with 4. Beacon NY, Cherster NY, and Middletown NY each finished with 3 breweries. Surprisingly, only a handful of breweries were visited more that twice, locals Bronx Brewery (NYC), Departed Soles Brewing Company (Jersey City, NJ), Fifth Hammer Brewing Company (Long Island City, NY), and TALEA Beer Co (NYC) finished with 3 visits, while Finback Brewery (Long Island City, NY) and Rockwaway Brewing Company (Long Island City, NY) finished tied with 4 visits. Honorable Mention goes to Other Half Brewing which had 4 visits across 3 locations (NYC, Brookyn, Halfmoon, NY).
