catb 62: Sandy

It was a crazy week here at CATB HQ after hurricane Sandy hit the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area on Monday, Oct 29. We lost power shortly after large areas of Manhattan were flooded. We actually had water from the East River flowing up our block.... and we're 3 long blocks from the river! Our power wasn't restored until Friday evening, but a friend lent us his apartment (it still had power), so we had a place to stay. (Thanks SPH!) We fared better than a lot of other people, and for that we are very thankful. Hundreds of thousands are still without power as of this post. Thousands more have seen their homes destroyed and are still seeking assistance. Whole communities in New Jersey, Queens, Long Island and Staten Island have been devastated and will need to be rebuilt. Recovery will take a very long time. If you are so inclined and wish to help there are numerous charities that are offering assistance. Here are a couple: American Red Cross - Hurricane Sandy Americares Donate Hurricane Sandy Also if you text REDCROSS to 90999 you can automatically donate $10. Every little bit helps.

  4. Thanks guys! Dougie thanks you too.

  5. We only lost power for like 30 mins I think. I’m over in Brooklyn. I know lower Manhattan got clamed by the river for days. Power was out for over a week for some people.
