As one might imagine I have experienced more than my fair share of kidding about the name "Glasscock" over the years. When I was a kid it really got to me, but as I got older I began to appreciate the name more. Few people ever forget it, which can be a bonus for a guy hoping to stand out from the crowd. There's even a Glasscock county in Texas!
Where does the name come from? Various sources put it as a very old (circa 1500's) name of English origin. The cock suffix having evolved over time from a word meaning roughly young man or boy back in the 1300's. For example you'd have the glass blowers son (Glasscock), the wood workers son (Woodcock), etc. Or so I've read.

Being a Jack was no picnic either.

My great-grandfather’s name was Jack Glasscock. Perhaps kids were kinder in the 1890’s.

Love is a many splintered thing.
I resisted the pun for a whole week.
